PITTSBURGH, PA., June 1, 2013 – Think Through Learning Inc. and its award-winning flagship program, Think Through Math, today announced a strategic partnership with Clever to provide optional SIS integration for all of its school clients. For the first time, Think Through Math will directly connect to dozens of student information systems.

Think Through Math provides a cost-effective online solution that prepares students in grades 3 through Algebra I for the rigors of the Common Core and accelerates them to grade level. The program monitors student progress and provides detailed, easy-to-use reports to help teachers provide instruction based on individual student needs.

“Our schools have been consistently telling us that they need SIS integration so that their teachers can focus on instruction rather than roster management,” said Kevin McAliley, CEO of Think Through Math. “We’ve been listening, and we’re excited to partner with Clever to make it even easier for schools to adopt Think Through Math. Schools save time and money, but most importantly, they can be certain that Think Through Math will “just work” for all of their students, including those with the highest mobility.”

“Think Through Math has impressed us with their focus on creating an outstanding experience for students and teachers,” said Tyler Bosmeny, CEO of Clever. “We’re proud that by leveraging Clever, Think Through Math will be able to provide an even better, more integrated experience for those students and teachers.”

With the new partnership between Clever and Think Through Learning Inc., any school or district will be able to integrate Think Through Math directly with their student information system (SIS). This means that all activity in a school, including student enrollment and course changes, will automatically stay up-to-date inside Think Through Math with no additional work required by administrators or teachers. Setting up the process of integration via Clever takes 5 minutes for nearly any student information system.

Think Through Learning Inc. is a company of teachers and technologists who are committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective, differentiated math instruction. With a powerful blend of Web-based content and instant online support from live, certified teachers, Think Through Math is changing the math trajectory for more than two million students in 41 states.

Clever was founded by a team of technologists and former educators to help schools more easily deploy new software in the classroom. Over 4,000 schools use Clever to keep their learning software in sync with their student information system (SIS). Think Through Learning Inc. is the latest among 50 leading educational software companies to partner with Clever to offer schools a modern and seamless way to integrate software.

PITTSBURGH, PA (May 17, 2013) — Today, Think Through Math, the award-winning digital math solution for students in grades 3 through Algebra l, is excited to recognize six outstanding students. Through personal determination and with support from dedicated teachers, these students have overcome challenges to make impressive math gains and set themselves on a path to academic success. The TTM MVP awards were created to honor adolescents nationwide who have experienced math success despite formidable odds. The six TTM MVP award winners will receive a $1,000 contribution to a college savings plan.

How did these exceptional students improve their math achievement and develop self-confidence? They were enrolled in Think Through Math—a leading supplemental math curriculum proven to motivate underperforming students.

While the recipients of the awards differ in grade, home state and background, they share similar stories with other students–lack of math confidence, low self-esteem, behavioral issues, and the risk of academic failure. Some of the MVP winners faced additional hurdles: learning English as a second language or physical and emotional challenges. Now, they have each accomplished something remarkable—raising their math scores, feeling more confident in school, boosting their grades, and passing their enthusiasm onto others—and they are now on a path to attend college.

“More than 100 students were nominated by their teachers. Each one is an inspiration to all of us. Through dedication and hard work, and with the help of their amazing teachers, these most valuable players have proven that there is no goal that they cannot reach,” said Kevin McAliley, CEO of Think Through Learning Inc. “We are proud to honor these students and celebrate the bright futures they have ahead of them.”

The 2013 TTM MVP Award winners are:

Andrew Davis – Grade 5 – Checotah, OK

Andrew is an energetic boy who finds it very hard to concentrate. TTM helped him discover that he can focus on learning and experience meaningful success in mathematics.

Ariana Ramirez – Grade 6 – Irving, TX

Though math hasn’t come easy to Ariana, she has transformed herself from someone intimidated by math into an MVP (in a classroom dominated by boys).

Thomas James Cullum – Grade 7 – Lewiston, ID

Once a very reluctant learner and easily frustrated by mathematics, Thomas is now an avid math learner and loves the feeling of success.

Quenton Turner – Grade 7 – Pittsburgh, PA

Using TTM in an inner-city afterschool program, Quenton loved working with the online teachers to accelerate his understanding of mathematics.

Ezra Mengiste – Grade 8 – Washington DC

As a recent newcomer from Ethiopia, Ezra encounters plenty of challenges. TTM has been a helpful tool that has improved his academic and language skills as well as his self-confidence.

Regan Moreau – Algebra l – Round Rock ISD, TX

Regan is a diligent student but has had difficulty passing end-of-year math tests. Now this 12th grader has been accepted into Texas Tech!

The TTM MVP Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of Think Through Math students who have benefited from their hard work. “The program is designed to help students discover that they have the capacity to succeed in mathematics,” added McAliley. “Research shows that good math skills will open doors and help students on many levels.”

Access to Think Through Math is provided via Texas SUCCESS, Texas Students Using Curriculum Content to Ensure Sustained Success. Texas SUCCESS provides state-funded access to interactive math and reading programs for Texas public school students in grades 3-8.

Michael L. Williams, the Commissioner of Education in Texas, will be attending a special event at West Elementary Campus on Monday, May 20, at 10:30 am to help present the check to a representative from the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross West, Texas Fund was established on Thursday, April 18, to support the citizens of West, Texas, after an explosion crippled the town. Almost immediately, students of THINK Through Math pledged their support by donating their THINK points to the charity.

As part of its unique motivational system, Think Through Math provides students with the ability to make charitable donations to select charities by using their hard-earned THINK points. Think Through Math donates one dollar for every 5,000 points to various charities throughout the year. In a three-week period, students donated $6,367 to the American Red Cross West, Texas Relief Fund. Think Through Math matched student donations with an additional $5,000.

“Texans have an incredible sense of pride and thoughtfulness,” stated Louis Piconi, founder of Think Through Math. “We are not surprised to see the students of Texas complete more than two million math problems to support their friends and neighbors in West.”

Top contributors to the West fund included elementary and middle school students from Kingsville ISD, Pasadena ISD, Denton ISD, Dallas ISD, Calhoun County ISD and Mesquite ISD.

Last week, Arizona State University, the Clayton Christensen Institute and GSV Advisors announced the finalists in nine categories for the Return On Education Innovation Awards. The awards are tied to the ASU GSV Education Innovation Summit, a conference that has quickly grown in size and significance since its inception. Think Through Math was named a finalist in the “STEM” category.

Finalists were chosen based on their fulfillment of the following criteria:

Dramatically improving learning outcomes;

Providing substantial leverage to learning leaders (teachers, professors, self-learners);

Significantly increasing access to education, and/or

Greatly reducing the cost for learners and/or learning institutions.

“Think Through Math is honored to be listed among some of the best and most innovative names in education technology,” says Kevin McAliley, CEO of Think Through Math. “We’re especially pleased to be recognized by ROE’s inaugural awards in our inaugural year.

Think Through Math (TTM) is an adaptive, supplemental math solution that prepares students for the rigors of the Common Core State Standards and accelerates them to grade level. With a powerful combination of personalized learning and on-demand live tutoring, TTM is proven to raise math achievement for students in grades 3 through Algebra I.

This nomination marks the latest achievement in what has been a banner year for Think Through Math. In addition to serving students in 41 states, state-level leaders in Texas, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Idaho have made the program widely available to their students. Some 4 millions problems are completed by students on a typical busy school day. To date this school year, 700,000 students have taken advantage of Think Through Math’s embedded access to live, certified teachers.

“Think Through Math is breaking new ground in education,” adds McAliley. “We know how difficult it is for teachers to differentiate in a busy classroom. Our program provides skillful differentiation at every step. We don’t stop with personalized lesson pathways with lots of immediate corrective feedback. We take differentiation to the next level by providing just-in-time instruction from qualified teachers–in English or Spanish.”

Winners will be announced at the ROE Awards dinner at the Education Innovation Summit on Wednesday, April 17.

Adaptive, online learning program Think Through Math has announced that, on a typical school day in Spring 2013, students completed between three and four million problems.

Featuring a supplemental Common Core curriculum for grades 3 through Algebra l, Think Through Math provides Web-based instruction that motivates students in unprecedented ways. Designed to support schools and school districts as they adopt personalized and blended learning environments, Think Through Math delivers engaging, math content to students, while allowing teachers to provide more individualized attention based on each student’s needs.

“As students discover that Think Through Math helps them get better at math, it also helps them see that they have the capacity to enjoy math,” says Kevin McAliley, CEO of Think Through Learning Inc. “The result is that students make measurable gains and their entire outlook improves.”

With unprecedented motivational tools and personalized instruction, TTM is changing the way students learn math. “Think Through Math was built on the theory that engaged students are interested students. The goal of the program,” says McAliley, “is to prepare students for more rigorous mathematical standards and accelerate them to grade level as efficiently as possible.”

TTM integrates compelling online instruction and practice with proven teacher-driven practices. As students work on the program they receive immediate corrective feedback. If they continue to struggle, they are connected to certified, bilingual math teachers who can further differentiate and personalize instruction.

“This level of personalization is unprecedented,” says McAliley. “It explains why TTM students persevere and invest the time and effort that’s necessary in mathematics.”

About Think Through Learning Inc.

Think Through Math is a web-based intervention recently adopted at all LACOE Alternative and Juvenile Court Schools that is making a difference for teens who have fallen behind. The program meets students at their skill level, from third grade through geometry, providing a customized curriculum based on individual strengths and weaknesses.

The top achievers with the program are Rodney Wooten’s students at LACOE’s Hollywood Media Arts Academy, a community-based program for expelled and at-risk students.

“Mr. Wooten has managed to integrate classroom instruction with online intervention at a level worthy of national recognition,” said Troy Vistro, an instructional coach with Think Through Math.

Wooten said the online program engages students and helps them better understand the subject matter. It is also a valuable tool for teachers in developing each student’s individual learning pathway, he said.

Also motivating students, Wooten said, are the program’s contests and rewards. In the recent “March Math Madness” competition, for example, Hollywood Media Arts went up against more than 27,000 schools nationwide and made it into the “Elite Eight” finals due to the high number of lessons they had passed.

Since implementing the program in October 2012, the Academy has completed more than 25 lessons per student, with an average pass rate of 70 percent.

Wooten proudly shared the case of one student, Damien, who had previously failed every math class. But thanks to the blended approach in his classroom, the young man has moved up two grade levels in 80 days and is on track to pass the California High School Exit Exam.

Think Through Math is used at least 90 minutes per week. It features access to state-certified math instructors who provide real-time one-one support when needed. The goal is to provide underperforming students with extra support that puts them on an accelerated path to algebra, as well as to college and careers.

Approximately 70 students at Sacajewea Jr. high have been using a web-based math program since November to better understand mathematical fundamentals. Now, they are in the final four out of 27,500 schools across the country to have the highest combined scores of their math tests. The program “Think through Math” tabulates the overall scores of the students who are able to work at their own pace. Seventh grader Rebecca Stuck said she was reluctant to start the program but now she’s hooked.

“I think that I would be farther behind in here because I’ve been learning stuff that my math teacher hasn’t even gone over with us yet,” said Stuck.

“I would say that there is tremendous growth with these kids right now,” said Sacajawea Jr. High Ninth Grade Teacher Karen Lott. “Some of them may probably still need some assistance but for the most part these kids have really taken off in their skills.”

Results for the final four schools are being announced next Monday, so the kids are even working at home to try and improve their scores. The winning school gets a trophy, banner and national recognition.

PITTSBURGH, PA (March 4, 2013) — Six months after its launch into schools in August 2012, Think Through Learning Inc. announces that its web-based program for students in grades 3 through Algebra I, Think Through Math (TTM), has enrolled two million students in 41 states.

“This milestone demonstrates our unique position in the education market,” says Kevin McAliley, CEO of Think Through Learning. “Think Through Math is in demand because it’s the right program at the right time, at the right price.”

With unprecedented motivational tools and adaptive high-quality instruction, TTM is changing the way students learn math. “The goal of the program,” says McAliley, “is to prepare students for more rigorous mathematical standards, such as the Common Core State Standards and the TEKS. But the heart of the program is designed to accelerate students to grade level as efficiently as possible.”

TTM uniquely integrates online learning with access to live, certified math teachers who personally differentiate instruction when students continue to struggle.

TTM is used in 41 states and is the supplemental math program of choice in many of the nation’s largest districts including the District of Columbia, Hillsborough County (Tampa), Philadelphia, and Nashville. The states of Texas, Oklahoma, and Idaho provide access to the program through state-wide implementations. TTM is also widely used as an intervention system for underperforming high school students.

“District leaders tell us that Think Through Math solves one of their biggest problems–providing effective differentiated instruction,” says McAliley. “Think Through Math’s powerful blend of adaptive instruction and just-in-time tutoring from live, state-certified teachers embodies the future of blended learning.”
