THINK Nation Students Convert Points to Donation Dollars to Share Our Strength – No Kid Hungry Campaign
Pittsburgh, Penn. (December 9, 2015) —— Think Through Learning, creators of Think Through Math (TTM), the award-winning web-based instruction system for grades 3 and above, announced today that it will donate more than $5,000 to the Share Our Strength charity as part of its November “Time for Giving” Charity Challenge. This donation brings the total donations from Think Through Math’s national charity program to more than $300,000 since inception and nearly $10,000 to No Kid Hungry in the past year.
TTM’s charity points program provides students with the opportunity to convert the points they earn by completing math lessons within and outside of their classrooms into dollars that they can donate to a charity. As part of the program, the monthly “Time for Giving” Challenge focuses on giving to charity for the month. For its November challenge, THINK students completed over 77,000 lessons and solved 3.9 million math problems to support Share Our Strength’s “No Kid Hungry” campaign, which focuses on eliminating hunger for all children across the nation. Based on the points they earned and donated, the top two classes in each U.S. time zone will also receive a reward party sponsored by TTM.
“As the month of Thanksgiving, there was no better time than November to focus TTM charitable giving on the Share Our Strength ‘No Kid Hungry’ campaign, and our students proved they were up for the challenge,” said Lisa Wise of Think Through Math. “Focusing on one charity partner each month is helping to connect our THINK students to their communities while also learning about some of the causes that the charity organizations are tackling every day. They are learning at an early age that their efforts can make a difference not only in their own lives, but also in the lives of others.”
TTM’s charitable giving program has resulted in tens of thousands of dollars in annual donations to featured charities across the United States. In addition to No Kid Hungry, TTM’s featured charities include Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, World Wildlife Fund, The Wounded Warrior Project and PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, Donor’s Choose and The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
With nearly three million students in more than 180,000 classrooms across the country using Think Through Math, TTM is the fastest growing supplemental math program in the U.S. With customized versions for each state’s learning standards, Think Through Math’s lessons include a wide variety of interactive item types, ensuring students are well-prepared for the more sophisticated question types being used on state-level assessments. TTM’s unique intrinsic and extrinsic motivational approaches increase engagement and build self-esteem so students increase their time on task. Think Through Math has received numerous awards since its introduction and is expanding rapidly across the US.
