Robert Bowen is one of the most accomplished educational technology executives in the United States. He is currently chairman and CEO of Scientific Learning, an electronic learning company that leverages advanced research about the brain to improve literacy outcomes.

Bob has more than four decades of success in building or helping build market leaders in K-12 education. Prior to joining Scientific Learning, Bob was president of NCS Education Software and Services. He built a small business into the leader of enterprise software solutions with a 40 percent market share. NCS Education Software and Services won numerous awards for the quality of its software offerings. NCS was sold to Pearson in the fall of 2000 for $2.5 billion.

Previously Bob spent 17 years with McGraw-Hill, last serving as executive vice president of McGraw-Hill’s Education and Training group, which included seven divisions with total revenues of approximately $350 million. Mr. Bowen began his career as a high school math teacher, and later as a school district administrator. Mr. Bowen received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
