Think Through Learning, creators of Think Through Math, a web-based math instructional system for grades 3 and above, announced today that THINK Nation students from across the United States have chosen to convert the points that they earn doing math lessons into dollars, resulting in a donation of $10,000 to the American Red Cross Nepal Earthquake Fund in just nine days.

The American Red Cross Nepal Earthquake Fund was established on Tuesday, April 28 to support the citizens of Nepal after a devastating earthquake crippled the country.  Almost immediately, students of THINK Nation pledged their support by donating their hard-earned THINK points to the fund, instead of using those points for building on-line avatars or other rewards.

“Once again, when disaster strikes, Think Through Math students show their compassion by stepping up to help.  Through our charitable points program, we try to teach lessons that go beyond math and make it easy for students who want to give to charitable endeavors to do so,” said Louis Piconi, co-founder and executive vice president of Think Through Math.

An award-winning, interactive, adaptive program composed of engaging and rigorous game-based math lessons, TTM provides students with the opportunity to convert the points they earn by completing math lessons into dollars that they can use for a class party or donate to featured charities across the U.S.  TTM’s charitable-giving program has resulted in tens of thousands of dollars in annual donations to charities including Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, World Wildlife Fund, No Kid Hungry, The Wounded Warrior Project and PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center.  The charitable component of TTM has been embraced by schools across the country, many of which are managing their own socioeconomic challenges.

As the industry’s most respected and fastest growing supplemental math curriculum, Think Through Math provides engaging and rigorous adaptive lessons for grades 3 and above built upon both state-specific and Common Core standards. The program’s adaptive lessons are supported by the unique functionality of on-line math teachers to assist struggling students.  The system’s multi-tiered motivation increases engagement, builds self-esteem and fosters deep conceptual understanding for sustainable improvements in outcomes. Think Through Math has received numerous awards since its introduction.
